Description

Luang Phor Ngern created many amulets during his life , two of which made him very famous indeed, and are instantly recognizable by almost every amulet collector, namely; Roop-lor-loi-ong and Rian-lor Pim Jop.

In particular the Roop-lor-loi-ong (Pim Niyom) amulets have been accepted by most experts as one of the kingdoms most enduring and popular amulets, rating amongst the great pims from Wat Rakhang, and Wat Bangkhunprom. They are highly respected for the power to protect worshippers from danger whilst also increasing fortune, charm, and success. Some of these amulets can cost well over 500.000 Baht. This particular amulet is known as Pim Kee Dta, referring to the sleepy eyes.

LP Ngern Kru Tainam

Luang Phor Ngern passed away on September 20th, B.E 2462, aged 111 years having served the Buddhist faith for 90 years.

Although some Luang Phor Ngern pims can cost a small fortune, like most amulets they need do not need to cost the earth provided that you have a basic appreciation of the amulet, its history and maker along with a reasonable background knowledge of the various temples, batches and pims. Indeed with a little care, study and preparation you should be able to acquire an authentic LP Ngern Pim such as the example on offer here at less than 500.00 USD.

Unfortunately with these particular amulets this is often far easier said than done. Hardly surprising when you consider that there are quite literally thousands of different pims with many looking almost identical. Add to that a production spanning across an entire century and you will understand why this is such a daunting task. But don’t feel out in the cold because even experts that have studied these pims for decades struggle with the same basic issues.

This particular Luang Phor Ngern featured above is one of the easiest to identify due to some quite distinctive markings that were made posthumously to prevent forgery. It is also not surprisingly one of the most popular.

An important consideration to bear in mind is that Luang Phor Ngern, Wat Tainam, Luang Phor Ngern, Wat KongKaram and Luang Phor Ngern of Wat Bangklan (also known as Wat Wantago) are one and the same monk. Luang Phor Ngern is known to have stayed and created amulets at all these temples.

Amulets blessed by Luang Phor Ngern are generally referred to as ”LP Ngern Wat Bangklan followed by the name of the exact temple Kru from which they were recovered”

Some of the least expensive batches of original pims were recovered from Kru Wat Tainam. This was LP Ngern’s temple prior to moving to Wat Bangklan/Wantago. In general it is only the Wat Bangklan pims that are extremely expensive. All experts concur that these three temples at which LP Ngern was resident should be categorised as part of the same family.

The Phra Kru pim on offer here was first discovered in a secret kru under the principal Buddha image at wat Tainam in BE 2524, the temple at which LP Ngern had been resident for a number of years. Amongst the find were also Pra Somdej, Pra Nangphya and Phra Pitda LP Ngern amulets.

Luang Phor Ngern

To become highly respected by an entire nation is not easy, but Luang Phor Ngern from Wat Bangklan (official name was Wat Hirunyaram) Pichit province, achieved such notoriety through his amulets. Although this great monk passed away a number of years ago, his memory lives on through his works.

Here are some popular accounts of the efficacy of his amulets and in particular a very famous account of his BE 2515 amulet.

During Vietnam War, the royal Thai government co-operated with the USA in sending many soldiers to assist in this notorious conflict and Sergeant Chao was almost killed by a large container filled with explosives.

“Though many years have passed, I had never forgot the day that I was almost killed and I firmly believe that the magic power of the Luang Phor Ngern’s sacred amulet saved my life.”, he said. He revealed that one of his main duties was to collect weapons from the corpses of casualties and as such he carried a box  full of weapons including grenades, guns etc.

Thai Buddhist Amulets

“One day I had seized a box of grenades and other explosives from the corpse of a Vietnamese soldier. Whilst I was carrying it back to the regiment I witnessed what appeared to be a trace of fire sparking on the ground running towards me. It transpired that some of the explosive powder had dropped to the ground.”, he said excitedly.

Having realized what had happened he immediately threw the box

“Suddenly there was a massive explosion and I was left in a complete state of shock, not even knowing if I was still alive or whether I had been injured.”

However at the time it seemed to him that he had been reborn (from death) because he quickly discovered that all of his body was intact “ this was a real miracle, one I truly associate with the sacred amulet that was hanging from my neck’.

Other individuals who were sceptical of the power of his amulets tried to test the claims. In fact it was recorded that a certain individual repeatedly discharged live ammunition towards his BE 2515 amulet, and even though at close range was unable to hit the amulet, the bullets were mysteriously deflected by an unknown force.

Apparently the bullets even mis-fired causing damage to both the gun and the individuals hands.

Since then this series of sacred amulets was called Bpern Dek Version as a warning to anyone else who wanted to challenge Luang Phor Ngern ’s sacred power again.
